Facebook has launched a new version of its app which uses less data than the regular smartphone editions.
Each time you use Facebook on your phone away from a wi-fi hotspot you use data. If the connection is poor pictures can take a long time to load and videos won’t play.
The key Facebook features remain the same: you get the News Feed, can share updates and photos, get notifications, message friends and have group conversations. However, it won’t have data-hungry features like video autoplay.
Facebook Lite, which is free to download, is available only for Android phones and not those running Windows or iOS.
